I attended the Obama Acceptance Speech Viewing Party hosted by Pima County Democratic Party at Hotel Congress last night. Packed! It was packed to the rafters. There was a nice spread of hors d’oeuvres on buffet and four separate screens.
I ended up in a section with many … um, more experienced Dems who kept getting really pissed when the people in Lobby were talking during all the pre-speech stuff. A sweet little 70-year-old lady sitting next to me muttered, “I think some people should stayed home and watched from their couches” regarding said folks. She was awesome. Actually most of the people were awesome. Once the speech started everyone was cheering and applauding along which was really fun. When I spent a moment thinking about it, though, I don’t know why we were all cheering because it’s not like Obama could hear us all the way in Denver. Not that that thought stopped me from clapping along.
It was good times and, of course, I got roped into doing some volunteer work. It’s hard not to get it not the spirit when you are en mass like that.
